What Defines a True Oriental Carpet?

Oriental carpets are distinguished by their origin, craftsmanship, and weaving technique. Handwoven across historic regions such as Persia (Iran), Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, and Central Asia, these carpets are created using time-honored methods that have remained largely unchanged for generations.

Every Oriental rug is crafted knot by knot by skilled artisans. This meticulous process results in dense knot structures, precise patterns, and exceptional durability — qualities that machine-made rugs simply cannot replicate. At The Rug Orient, we evaluate each carpet for authenticity, knot consistency, and artistic balance before adding it to our collection.

Materials That Define Quality & Longevity

A true Oriental carpet begins with the right materials. Our expertise allows us to source rugs made only from premium natural fibers.

Wool Oriental Carpets

Wool is the foundation of most Oriental carpets due to its strength, elasticity, and warmth. High-quality wool produces rugs that age gracefully, developing character while maintaining structural integrity.

Silk Oriental Rugs

Silk is used to enhance finer details, add luminosity, and elevate visual depth. Silk Oriental rugs are especially valued for decorative spaces where craftsmanship and elegance are the focal point.
